It was summer on Mol’Rihan, and the depts of the isha forest was the idyllic place to spend a summer holiday. Situated in a remote area on the outskirts of the main settlement on the planet, the forest and fields sprawled on for miles untouched by industry and development. This area housed historical ruins left behind by the planet’s previous inhabitants – and it also was home of the epohhs, small, four-legged, fuzzy creatures who had captured the hearts of the people who had settled here.
Keen to avoid disrupting the native flora and fauna, Romulan scientists had worked hard on preservation projects for the local wildlife. The isha forest had been designated as a site of scientific study while epohhs were examined so scientists could work out how to, ehm, encourage the animals to make their population thrive. The main issue was that the staging grounds of the capital had attracted far more interest than the fields, and so development on the planet was focused elsewhere. To help combat this, for the summer period, a small part of the fields had been opened up as a campsite. There, people could learn more about Mol’Rihan and become enamoured with the epohhs, hopefully to encourage them to contribute to the project here. It was a mix of relaxation, tourism, and science.
As such, a small clearing in the forest had been set up with tents here and there, although they were few and far between so wildlife wouldn’t be too daunted by the sudden influx of people. Stars twinkled in the night sky overhead: it was a perfect night and the area was devoid of light pollution, making it a perfect opportunity to see the stars. Some tents still had lights on, but most people had settled down to sleep by now. Here and there epohhs wandered – the more brave of them even trying to get into the tents to see what was going on – but many had settled down into the grass to sleep as well. It was set to be a peaceful night.
